The agent of Aston Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov has dismissed reports he will retire after being diagnosed with acute leukaemia.

The 32-year-old Villa skipper will be missing from the game for a while as he battles against the cancer which it was confirmed he is suffering from by an Aston Villa statement on Friday.
The Bulgarian international underwent tests due to a fever which he began feeling ill from during last weekend's 3-0 defeat at Arsenal.  Petrov was present at Villa Park on Saturday as fans of both Villa and Chelsea paid tribute to him as they sustained a minute's applause in the 19th minute of the side's 4-2 defeat to commemorate his shirt number. However claims that Petrov will now walk away from football to focus on beating the illness have been rubbished by his agent Stephen Hughes.
"It is not true that Stiliyan has said he is retiring from football," Hughes told Sky Sports. "What he did say was that he was fighting for his life and that he will fight to recover."
