Smith hails Ledesma impact

Dean Smith praised the contribution of Emmanuel Ledesma before turning his attention to Walsall's impressive 3-1 triumph over Colchester.

The Saddlers bounced back from the shock of going behind to grab their first win in five matches and move out of the League One relegation zone thanks largely to an inspirational performance from Argentinian midfielder Ledesma, who recently rejoined the club.
Anthony Wordsworth put the U's ahead after 11 minutes with a superb left-footed shot but Ledesma took over, equalising with a superb 25-yard free-kick before Mat Sadler put the hosts in front a minute from half-time. The Saddlers made sure of the points when Ledesma set up substitute George Bowerman to head the third after 74 minutes.
"We all know what he can do and he's a fantastic talent," said Smith. "I think he'll be here next season, which is one of the reasons we brought him back. "But this wasn't about individuals, it was a team performance. We knew it was important to win because it was our game in hand and now we are looking forward to going to Rochdale on Saturday.
"The players we have are hard to beat. No team has really turned us over this season."
