Wolfsburg's Ashkan Dejagah again named in extensive Iran squad

Team Melli coach Carlos Queiroz has named 37 players in his latest squad for matches against Jordan and Qatar, including the ex-Germany youth international once again



Tehran-born Germany-based striker Ashkan Dejagah has once again been named in a Carlos Queiroz squad, after the Portuguese announced a 37-man preliminary squad ahead of matches against Jordan and Qatar.Iran take on Jordan in a friendly in Dubai on February 23, before meeting Qatar six days later in their final third round World Cup qualifier group game, having already secured their progress to the next stage.

Queiroz has named an extensive list for the games, although the squad will be shortened to 27 players after this weekend's Iranian Pro League matches. Only domestic-based players will be included to face Jordan, while foreign-based players, such as Javad Nekounam and Dejagah, will link up with the team three days prior to the Qatar clash.Esteghlal midfielders Andranik Teymourian and Mojtaba Jabbari are both not included in the squad due to injury along with Masoud Shojaei and Reza Ghoochannejhad.It has been reported in Iran former Germany youth international Dejagah, who remains uncapped for Team Melli, will finally link up with Queiroz's side after much speculation in the past. - http://www.goal.com/
