Rafael van der Vaart says he has no intention of leaving Tottenham in the summer even if they miss out on the Champions League.

Following a season of much promise Tottenham are in danger of ending up empty handed and could miss out on a place in the top four and Europe's elite competition.

That has lead to suggestions they may struggle to keep hold of their star players but Van der Vaart says he has been there and done it and is happy and content to stay at White Hart Lane.

The former Real Madrid star is pledging his long-term future to the club and that will be music to the ears of those Spurs supporters who will be fearing an exodus should they miss out on the top four.

"Even if we don't manage to get into the Champions League, that is no reason for me to leave," the midfielder revealed.

"Any young player wants to play for Barcelona, Manchester United or Real Madrid.

"But that is something I've done, and I am now happy at Spurs."
